Solar PV Solutions

What is Solar PV?

Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems harness the power of sunlight to generate direct current (DC) electricity through the photovoltaic effect. This process involves converting the energy from photons in sunlight into an electric current within specialized semiconductor materials, known as photovoltaic cells. The DC electricity produced by these solar cells can then be converted into alternating current (AC) through an inverter, making it suitable for powering homes, businesses, and other applications. Additionally, any excess electricity generated can be fed back into the local utility grid, enabling users to receive credits or compensation for their contribution of renewable energy.

Residential

Homeowners with properties constructed and occupied on or prior to December 31st, 2020, and without previous solar photovoltaic (PV) funding, are eligible for the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland's (SEAI) €1,800 solar electricity grant. At NextGen, we offer services designed to streamline the solar PV installation process for customers, ensuring peace of mind through our adherence to rigorous design and installation quality standards.

Our comprehensive approach encompasses the following key elements:

1. Site suitability assessment conducted by a qualified QQI solar PV installer with specialized training.
2. Grant application facilitation, with NextGen handling the process on behalf of the homeowner and deducting the grant amount from the overall cost.
3. Where possible, we prefer to install a suitable Inverter and Battery external to the dwelling, alleviating any potential risks. (It is not advisable to install inverters or batteries in an Attic space due to immense variations in temperature)
4. Our quotations include bird protection strips, preventing avian access to areas behind the PV panels.
5. All installations adhere to the highest standards, complying with the Irish Standard 10101 and the SEAI Code of Practice.

Agricultural

The Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS) offers grant aid at a rate of 60% on the investment incurred for standalone Solar PV installations costing up to €90,000. Certain criteria must be met to avail of the TAMS 3 funding:

•    Minimum investment of €2,000 to a maximum of €90,000
•    The grant is only available for self-consumption systems, meaning you will receive funding proportional to the suitably designed system size.
•    An "On Farm Solar PV Survey" must be submitted (NextGen will provide this service).

Commercial

The Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) provides financial assistance to businesses and other sectors to install solar PV panels for on-site electricity generation. This technology reduces commercial electricity costs, increases supply security, and enhances a positive sustainability image. Grant funding is available for systems up to a maximum of 1000 kWp.

This grant is available to the following:
•    Businesses
•    Public Sector bodies
•    Schools
•    Community Centers
•    Non-profit societies
